'Mai Ka Laal' reality show: Jaaved Jaaffery

'Mai ka Laal' is a family show, says actor-comedian Jaaved Jaaffery, adding that the show will be dignified in contrast to some of the reality shows which have been criticised for vulgar and offensive content.
'It is not a spicy type. The show is for families who like clean and healthy entertainment. Not for people who like sensationalism, sexuality or vulgarity because my show won't have all of this,' Jaaved told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Earlier, reality shows like 'Bigg Boss 4' and 'Rakhi Ka Insaaf' were criticised for vulgar content.

'In shows, where we see people fighting with each other or there is use of abusive language, I personally don't like them,' said Jaaved known for judging dance shows like 'Boogie Woogie' and 'Chak Dhoom Dhoom'.

The 47-year-old, known for playing comic roles in 'Salaam Namaste' and 'Singh Is Kinng', tries to think of out of the box to set new trends.

'From the time I entered the entertainment industry, I have always tried to bring different things on screen and somehow have been a trendsetter. If you look back in time I did shows like 'Flashback' and 'Time Pass', which startted the trend of Hinglish (mix of Hindi and English) language on television. Then 'Boogie Woogie' was the first dance show. I always try to think beyond time and try to do innovative experiments,' he said.

'I am lucky that with time I have achieved a position where I can make choices. Now I need to balance my work and time wisely,' he added.

His show 'Mai ka Laal' will bring parents and children together - each episode will have three contestants and the winning family will win a family holiday at Disneyland.

The show will be aired on Disney Channel from June 12 at 5 p.m.

'The show primarily deals with parents - it is a test for parents and it will bring out the real picture that how much parents know their own kids. I play a mediator on the show,' he said.

Apart from his dance moves, the actor is also known for his comic sense and has his bag full of some interesting Bollywood projects like 'Joker', 'Loot' and 'Double Dhamaal'.
