Friday Masala


Three movies - including two comedies Jolly LLB, Mere Dad Ki Maruti and one horror-thriller 3G - released today.

Two fun films Mere Dad Ki Maruti and satirical comedy Jolly LLB are set to tickle your funny bone.

Yash Raj Films' Mere Dad Ki Maruti, featuring Ram Kapoor as the strict Punjabi dad, is set against the backdrop of a wedding in Chandigarh. The movie is the story of a boy who sneaks his dad's new car to impress his college friend and how things take a turn when he loses it. The movies has been based on a budget of Rs.5 crore and has been made by director Ashima Chibber.


Next up is Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani's Jolly LLB, which is a satire on the legal system in the country. The movie is about a struggling lawyer named Jolly (Arshad), who wants to become India's greatest lawyer. When he comes to Delhi in search of the star case, he gets involved with one of the most popular and expensive lawyers, Rajpal (Boman). Amrita Rao plays Arshad's love interest.

This is The film, which relies on both humour and pathos for impact, is buoyed by a clutch of outstanding performances and a directorial style that is marked by admirable lightness of touch.
Writer-director Subhash Kapoor keeps it simple and shipshape.



And this week's third release 3G might interest you. Horror is the new flavor in Bollywood, after the success of Raaz 3 last year, real life couple Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan will be seen in a horror thriller 3G directed by Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chhibber. The director duo has used cellphones to create fear in 3G, which revolves around the Phantom calls that are received by cellphone users worldwide.

Neil and Sonal become victims of a series of events, when Sam (Neil) buys a 3G-enabled second hand phone in Fiji Islands while holidaying there. One night they receive a phantom call, which changes their lives forever.
