LK Advani resigns from all positions in BJP

New Delhi: A day after Narendra Modi became BJP's campaign committee chief, senior party leader LK Advani resigned from all party posts - Top national executive, parliamentary and electoral commission board.

Senior leader sent a letter to BJP president Rajnath Singh informing him of his resignation. "No longer do I have the feeling that this is the same party idealistic created by Shyam Prasad Mookerjee, Deendayal Upadhyay and AB Vajpayee," Advani said in his letter.

"Most BJP leaders are concerned only with their own agendas," he said in his letter to Rajnath Singh.

Advani had skipped the BJP executive meeting held in Goa over the weekend.

BJP leadership on Sunday Narendra Modi was appointed as chairman of its national electoral committee in a significant step towards achieving full pressure of cadres to declare cm Gujarat saffron candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

The decision came in the face of strong resistance LK Advani and Modi's emergence as a mark distinguishing the BJP leader at the expense of former Deputy Prime Minister and many others.

Some disgruntled colleagues Advani chose to disguise their sullenness, but senior leader stayed away from the national executive between signs of unhappiness with his big leg-up for Modi.

Although an unprecedented event considering unflinching regularity with which the DP will follow former deputy party meets, his lack of leadership has not prevented by acquiescing in noise from Modi cadres to be anointed as the spearhead of the party battle of 2014.

In a significant departure from routine, none of the speakers mentioned Advani. Modi expressed his gratitude for seniors who mentored him, but refrained from naming names. Advani omission from the procedure seemed even more glaring against the backdrop of slogans embracing and celebrating drumbeats leadership cadres hope that Modi will be sending their new talisman next year trophy that Advani had failed to bag in 2009.

In addition to the party making the long shadow still lingering Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani and enshrining and pressure Cadre role as a major factor in the Sangh Parivar decision-making, big boost for Modi also announces its growth as the main challenger to the Congress - For every "secular", at the end of the political establishment.
